If Road Rules Had A Theme Song…

…it would be this instrumental from Jimmy Page’s solo album, Outrider. Called “The Writes of Winter” (which, incidentally has nothing to do with my name), I used to like cranking this one up on long trips. For whatever reason, this got embedded in my mind when I wrote Road Rules.  Now I’m embedding it here.  Enjoy.

Women Of Mystery Giving Away Road Rules

You have until tomorrow evening to snag yourself a free copy of Road Rules from the Women of Mystery blog. Terrie Farley Moran says, “This novel is definitely a cross between the screwball movie “It’s a Mad, Mad Mad Mad World” and Jimmy Breslin’s hilarious book, “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight.” Yep, Road Rules is that kind of funny.”

Leave a comment at Terrie’s post, and I will pick one at random by 5 PM Eastern, which gives you a free copy.

(Hint: Make sure we can find you if I do pick your entry.  Makes emailing it a tad easier.)

And if you don’t win, it’s only 99 cents on Amazon, BN, and Smashwords.

The Promo Gambit Once Again

OK, here’s what I found out the other night giving people until midnight to jump an offer.  If you give people a period of only a few hours to take advantage of an offer, you likely won’t get takers.  No prob.

So here’s what we’re going to do.

Five years ago, I wrote a novel called Northcoast Shakedown which came and went with its publisher before the second book got out of the gate. Now I’m getting ready to format it for publication this November. What’s it about?

Sex, lies, and insurance fraud.

It was the quintessential Cleveland PI novel, and it’s coming back on Black Friday, November 25 this year.

So here’s the deal. Anyone who buys Road Rules this weekend, between now and 11:59 Sunday, can have the newly formatted Northcoast Shakedown gratis. Take a screen shot of your receipt (the email Amazon, BN, and Smashwords send to confirm your purchase), and email it to me or message me on Facebook, along with which format you prefer for your book.  Come Monday, I’ll email the copies out to you.

“So, Jim, what’s the catch?”

Glad you asked that, blog sock puppet.

Along with Road Rules, you have to order another book. It can be one of the following:

That’s right. I’m spreading to love.  And if you want Northcoast for ree, you’ll spread it, too. The nice thing is it won’t cost you a lot.

So if I see one of those in your email, along with Road Rules, you get Northcoast Shakedown for free and before anyone else gets it.

And if you bought one of the used copies on Amazon for $68, I reserve the right to laugh at you and make fun of your mother.

So that’s it.  99 cents for Road Rules, anywhere from 99 cents to $3.99 for one of the other books, and you get Northcoast Shakedown.
