I’m typing this just before the President addresses the nation.
Osama bin-Laden is dead.
I absolutely can’t believe it. Right now as I type this, I’m listening to a bunch of talking heads on CNN try to fill time while we wait for Obama to make the official announcement.
What is this like?
It’s like when Gorbachev came to New York City when only five years earlier, Reagan called his country “an evil empire.”
It’s like the Berlin Wall coming down.
It’s like the 1990’s all rolled into one night.
I’ve been holding my breath for ten years. I’ve been clenching my fists since about April, 2005, when Charlie Stella dropped me off on a Sunday morning at Ground Zero.
It’s like I can breathe again.
